Jason Who?: The Splatterhouse Review

Presentation is done very well and with style. You barely notice the cell shading due to the frantic nature of the game’s combat system. The sound is eerie and the voice acting, especially Jim “I was once attached to a dog” Cummings as the mask. I love Jim Cummings’s voice work, and this is no exception. The team could’ve hired Mark Hammil to use his Joker voice for the Mask, and it would’ve felt incomplete. Cummings brings the Mask to life.

Jim Cummings as the voice of the Terror mask couldn’t have been a better fit. He’s sarcastic, he’s patronizing, constantly goading you, and almost always has the sinister tone in his voice. He does total ******* personality really well..Another thing, It’s hilarious, at least to me, to hear him shout the various obscenities every few seconds. Due largely to the fact that he’s done voices for Disney.

Splatterhouse Review from Elder Geek

The voice acting is very good all round, with particular excellence from the voice of the Terror Mask, the man known as Jim Cummings. He delivers the mask’s many quips with relish, making for some of the best voice work I’ve ever seen in a game. While some may believe that this takes away from the mystery of this once Mayan mask, it is still great fun to hear the voice of Tigger deliver such hilarious lines. He also has quite the potty mouth, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

…the repartee between the Mask and Rick is pretty funny, with the Mask voiced by Jim Cummings (whom I recognized from&Darkwing Duck). The voice overs in general are of high quality and are often pretty funny, with humor that occasionally had me laughing out loud.

The mask is voiced by veteran cartoon actor Jim Cummings, and if you watched a cartoon in the 1990s, you’ll recognize him (my favorite role of his was as Beowulf in a Mighty Max episode (you’re probably too young). The mask has all the best dialogue, and while a lot of it is repeated during fighting, the meta-game humor Splatterhouse employs can be pretty funny at times. It reminds me of Evil Dead: Regeneration, a fairly weak PS2 game that employed a similarly endearing humor style. Splatterhouse even includes a shout-out to Evil Dead when you find the shotgun on the body of a guy who looks a lot like that franchise’s main character, Ash. In Splatterhouse’s case, the humor isn’t quite enough to push players all the way through the game like it was with Evil Dead, but it certainly helps.

Review: Splatterhouse from Destructoid

The package is completed by the constant commentary of Rick’s Terror Mask. Voiced by Jim Cummings, the Mask’s fourth-wall breaking sarcasm and love of inappropriate swearing is a definite highlight, and even induces a giggle or two.

Review: Splatterhouse (Microsoft Xbox 360) from Diehard GameFAN

The voice acting is outstanding, almost entirely because of one Jim Cummings playing the part of the Terror Mask, so, yes, Tigger/Darkwing Duck is now informing you that you need obliterate monsters in the crudest manner possible and that’s pretty great.
